DW II: The Magic Kingdom

Today we went to "Mickey's House" aka The Magic Kingdom. It was, in one word, awesome (or perhaps I should say, AUsome, because Ashley has an Auburn backpack, and every so often we get a "Wareagle" from strangers). Here is a picture of Bode and Mommy on the bus.
Note that even Mommy is wearing shorts. The weather was beautiful, so she got to show off her pearly white thighs, err, teeth :-) We arrived at the gates before the park opened. Here are some shots as Bode anxiously awaits Mickey's arrival
There was an opening ceremony at 0900. The Mayor of Main Street gave a little speech, and then the characters arrived on a train. It was quite thrilling.
Once the gates opened, we were off and running. First up, we headed over to Adventureland
We hopped on the Jungle Cruise--we didn't have to wait at all. We cruised down the "Nile," seeing all sorts of wildlife. Very fun. Next, we did Pirates of the Carribean, Aladdin's Magic Carpet Ride, some treetop adventure, and even went to Tom Sawyer's Island. We then wanted to do the big log ride. Bode was just tall enough to go--slightly more than 40 inches. He didn't want to at first, but we convinced him to go. He was very brave and seemed to enjoy it.
We then took a break for lunch. This had to have been the highlight of the day. We were dining when the Mayor of Main Street came in. He had a big announcement to make. There was a very special visitor to the park, and that special visitor was...Bode! We were amazed and thrilled. Bode got a Junior Mayor button, his pictures with the Mayor, and a special fast pass we could use on any ride in the park. Very cool! Unfortunately, I didn't get any good pictures. Below was the only one I got that wasn't blurry. There was a photographer taking all sorts of shots, and we'll order a CD with them. Check back later for these pictures.
Following lunch, we headed over to Tomorrowland. We watched the Monster's Inc comedy show, which was hilarious. We then took in some other sites--nothing major, but enjoyable seeing Bode's reaction. We then headed over to the big Disney Parade down Main Street.
Following the parade, we did some more rides and walked around. Mommy surprised me and offered to do the spinning tea cup ride with Bode. He loved it, and Mommy managed to keep her lunch down.
Afterwards, we headed back to the hotel. We ate a leisurely dinner and relaxed in the room. We are very worried about overdoing it, so we thought it best to get a good night's rest. Tomorrow: Hollywood Studios.
