Pentathlon

The Okaloosa County Pentathlon was this past Saturday. Swimmers from seven schools gathered at the pool and everyone swam a 50-free, 50-fly, 50-back, 50-breast, and 100-free. The results were tabulated, and the winner had the lowest time.

First event was the 50 free. Bode swam well (in our opinion) but he was, in Ashley's words, "fuming mad" afterwards. I guess he thought he should have been under 24 seconds. Below is the movie; Bode is in lane 3 (third from the left).

He finished 13th out of 86 boys.

The next event was the 50-fly. Bode is in lane 4, took second in his heat, and was 6th overall.

The third event was the 50-back. Bode is in lane 5, wins his heat, and finished 5th overall.

The fourth event was the 50-breast, Bode's least-strongest stroke. He has worked hard to improve, and he swam great. He is in lane 5, wins his heat, and finished 15th.

The final event was the 100-free. Bode is in lane 4, wins his heat, and he finished 7th overall.

Overall, Bode finished 8th, which is a great showing for a sophomore; all the boys ahead of him are older, except Juan, who is just a freak of nature, and Sawyer, who is just a fantastic swimmer. He was also very happy that he beat Eli (#13) and Madden (#16), two boys that he swims with at Coast.
The Choctaw team had their pictures taken this week. We wish Bode would smile...
Nothing too exciting this week for us except school and work. Ashley is sort of happy because Auburn won, but she said they looked god-awful in victory. Here's hoping for some improvement :-)
